Stubborn Belly Fat: ONDA × SCOOP Case
Why do stubborn areas around the abdomen and flanks remain despite regular exercise and a balanced diet? Explore a real patient case and learn how ONDA Body and SCOOP Body treatments in Gangnam helped refine the body contour.

"When Stubborn Belly Fat Won’t Budge:
A GU Clinic ONDA Body & SCOOP Body Case"
No matter how consistent you are with exercise and diet,
stubborn belly fat can sometimes seem impossible to shift.
Your weight may gradually decrease,
yet the area around your navel remains prominent.
Your abdomen might look relatively balanced from the front,
while love handles are still visible from other angles.
This does not necessarily mean you have not worked hard enough.
The appearance of your body after weight loss can vary depending on
where fat is stored, how thick the fat layer is, your skin elasticity,
and your natural body shape.
In this case review, we look at the abdominal condition of a patient
who visited GU Clinic with concerns about stubborn belly fat and explain how ONDA Body
and SCOOP Body were incorporated into a personalized treatment plan.

"Before: Why Was the Belly Fat
So Difficult to Reduce?"
During the initial consultation, we observed localized fat concentrated
around the navel, creating a rounded appearance.
The contour extending toward the flanks also lacked a smooth, defined transition.
The patient also reported frequently experiencing abdominal puffiness.
Losing weight does not always mean that fat decreases evenly across every area of the body.
The abdomen and flanks are common areas for localized fat to remain.
When fat is distributed unevenly, changes in body contour may appear less noticeable
despite a decrease in overall weight.
For this patient, continuing to lose weight was not the only consideration.
We needed to assess where the remaining fat was concentrated
and develop a plan to refine the contours of the central abdomen and flanks.

"Which Treatments Were Performed?"
After assessing the overall volume of the abdomen and the remaining areas of localized fat,
we developed a combined treatment plan using ONDA Body and SCOOP Body.
ONDA Body in Gangnam
ONDA Body uses microwave energy designed to deliver controlled heat to
the subcutaneous fat layer while helping protect the skin’s surface.
It may be used to address localized fat and skin laxity,
helping create a smoother and firmer-looking body contour.
SCOOP Body Fat-Dissolving Injections in Gangnam
SCOOP Body is a fat-dissolving injection used to
target localized areas that remain resistant to diet and exercise.
It may support the reduction of unwanted volume in selected areas
and help create a more refined contour.
The treatment area and dosage are customized according to
the thickness and distribution of the fat layer.
Because each patient’s anatomy and desired outcome are different,
an in-person assessment is necessary before planning treatment.

"Why Were ONDA and SCOOP Combined?"
ONDA Body and SCOOP Body do not serve exactly the same purpose.
ONDA: Used across broader areas of the abdomen
and flanks to support overall body contouring
SCOOP: Used to target smaller areas of localized fat with greater precision
In this case, the patient presented with both overall abdominal fullness
and localized fat around the navel and flanks.
By assigning a different role to each treatment, we were able to
address the broader abdominal contour while refining smaller, more concentrated areas.

Not every patient requires both treatments.
If the amount of localized fat is limited
or the treatment area is relatively small, one procedure may be sufficient.
A different approach may also be recommended depending on
fat thickness, distribution, and skin elasticity.

"After: Changes in the Abdominal Contour"
The fullness around the navel appeared more refined,
creating a flatter and smoother transition across the abdomen.
The gradual curve along the flanks was also reduced,
allowing the waistline to appear more naturally defined from the front.
As both the central abdomen and flanks became more balanced,
the overall silhouette appeared lighter and more streamlined.
Results vary depending on individual anatomy,
fat distribution, skin condition, lifestyle, and treatment plan.
The outcome shown in this case should not be taken as a guarantee of identical results.

"When Belly Fat Won’t Budge,
Look Beyond the Number on the Scale"
A balanced diet and regular exercise can help reduce overall weight
and body fat while supporting a healthier body.
However, fat does not always decrease evenly across every area.
When the abdomen or flanks remain unchanged despite ongoing efforts,
continuing to lose weight may not be the only option. It may be helpful to
assess where the fat is concentrated, evaluate the condition of the skin,
and consider a different approach.
The decision to use ONDA Body, SCOOP Body,
or a combination of the two should be based on the thickness
and distribution of abdominal fat, skin condition,
and the patient’s desired silhouette.
If stubborn belly fat continues to affect your body contour,
consider starting with a personalized assessment to
determine which treatment approach may be appropriate for your body.
