Gangnam XERF Lifting : Dual-Frequency Difference

Even RF lifting treatments can vary depending on frequency and heat delivery. Discover how dual-frequency XERF works and how treatment is tailored at our Gangnam clinic.

Radiofrequency lifting delivers controlled heat energy into the skin to

stimulate collagen remodeling and improve the appearance of skin firmness and texture.

While RF devices may appear to work in similar ways, they differ in the frequencies they use,

how energy is delivered, and how heat spreads through the tissue.

Even at a similar energy level, the selected mode and treatment settings can affect

both the sensation of heat and the overall treatment approach.

XERF is a monopolar RF device that uses 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz frequencies.

Instead of relying on one frequency and a fixed depth,

it allows the treatment mode to be selected according to

the facial area, skin thickness, and underlying tissue.

"How Do XERF’s Two Frequencies Work?"

XERF offers three treatment modes: Shallow, Middle, and Deep.

  • Shallow: Supports smoother texture, fine-line care, and collagen remodeling

  • Middle: Delivers heat across deeper tissue to support facial contour and firmness

  • Deep: Targets a broader range of deeper tissue for lifting and structural support

XERF uses 6.78 MHz in its Shallow and Middle modes. Although both modes use the same frequency,

Wave Fit Pulse technology varies how the energy is delivered and how heat spreads through the tissue.

In Deep mode, 6.78 MHz is delivered first, followed sequentially by 2 MHz within a single shot.

By combining the characteristics of both frequencies,

this mode is designed to create a thermal response across different tissue depths,

including the dermis and subcutaneous tissue.

Rather than viewing lower frequencies as exclusively deep

and higher frequencies as exclusively superficial,

it is more accurate to understand that XERF adjusts its thermal reach

through a combination of frequency and pulse delivery.

This dual-frequency system allows the treatment to address skin firmness

and facial contour while accounting for different tissue depths.

"Why Should Treatment

Be Tailored to Your Face?"

Skin thickness, fat distribution, and the direction of laxity differ from one facial area to another.

Applying the same mode and energy level uniformly around the eyes,

cheeks, and jawline may not deliver sufficient heat where it is needed

—or may create unnecessary discomfort in more sensitive areas.

XERF treatment in Gangnam can be planned by adjusting

its Shallow, Middle, and Deep settings, along with the energy level, for each area.

Shallow mode may be considered for skin texture and early signs of laxity.

Middle mode can be used when dermal firmness is the main concern,

while Deep mode may be incorporated in areas such as the cheeks and jawline,

where tissue thickness and sagging should be assessed together.

However, each mode should not be treated as a precise match for one specific anatomical layer.
Skin thickness, fat distribution, and facial structure should first be evaluated

so the depth and energy can be carefully adjusted for a natural-looking outcome.

"A Personalized Approach

Balancing Comfort and Results"

Having three depth settings does not mean

that Deep mode should be used extensively on every face.

For a slimmer face or thinner skin, treatment

may place greater emphasis on the Shallow and Middle modes.

Deep mode may be incorporated when the cheeks

or jawline have thicker underlying tissue.

Beyond the device name or number of shots, it is important to consider

whether the modes and energy levels are being adjusted according to

skin thickness, fat distribution, and the direction of laxity.

At Glow Up Clinic in Gangnam, we carefully assess the characteristics of

each facial area before creating a personalized XERF treatment plan.
